The special challenge in attenuating simple cycle turbine exhaust noise is adequately suppressing the
difficult-to-suppress very low frequency (infra-sound) component of the emitted noise, which is often
responsible for rattling windows or perceptible resonances inside homes far from the facility. We have
been solving this problem at peaking plants for years and are constantly investigating new ways of
maximizing low frequency noise abatement while minimizing silencer size, cost and pressure drop.
