| Noise Control for Coal, Oil or Gas Fired Power Plants |
Hessler Associates has been the principal acoustical designer on dozens of large coal, oil or
gas fired power stations in the United States and Overseas. Our typical work scope includes an
environmental impact assessment for new facilities, computer modeling of the expected off-site
noise levels, the design of all required noise abatement features, and the testing of the completed plant.
These plants are large, complex and contain many more significant noise sources than other
types of power plants, but our database of source noise levels and extensive field experience
at these facilities allows us to easily handle even the largest projects.

| Induced Draft and Forced Draft Fan Noise |
Fan noise is one of the dominant sources of noise from coal and oil fired plants. Strong tones, which
often cause legitimate community disturbance, are common from induced draft fan noise exiting
chimneys and from forced draft and gas recirculation fan casings, inlets and related ductwork.
Proper silencer specifications and design are essential to avoid problems in new plants and to
remedy problems at existing facilities.
Hessler Associates can assist with appropriate analyses and specifications not only for fans but also
for other problematic sources or the complete facility.
